Huddersfield Young Singers are a very talented youth choir. Last year, The Royal Albert Hall welcomed them when they performed as part of Huddersfield Fusion, a massed choir. Check out a little clip here. About 18 months ago, I took over leading the youngest group of HYS; the Little Voices. These children are aged between 4 and 7 years old and I am so proud to be part of this creative team alongside James and Jo Lewis, the founders of the choir.
Little Voices have performed in lots of venues to a variety of audiences including small spring recitals, formal concerts in front of large audiences and seasonal festivals like the Winter Wonderland Christmas markets. For such little people they produce a wonderful sound and we have a great time in rehearsals on Thursday afternoons.
We are very excited about our first official regional festival. Music for Youth is a platform on which to perform and receive feedback from experienced music mentors with the opportunity to go onto national festivals further afield. We have finalised our 10 minute set, tried on our costumes and now we just need to work on some of those tricky song lyrics!
I’ll keep you posted on our little musical adventure at the end of March. In the meantime, if you would like some more information about any part of the choir, including the Juniors and Seniors, just drop me a line.
