We made it into the Newspaper! Woohoo 🙂
Many of you will know that this is my new venture. But for the purposes of the blog here’s a little bit of info…A dance class specifically designed for people who have limited mobility due to illnesses such as Parkinson’s Disease, MS, Arthritis and the like.
The English National Ballet set up a programme called Dance for Parkinson’s and the benefits of gentle exercise teamed with therapeutic music are vast.
My class is very similar and offers the opportunity to work on balance, co-ordination and muscle strength as well as being able to meet somewhere once a week to have some fun and enjoy the company of others. It’s open to absolutely anyone who finds themselves with movement restrictions. It was wonderful to see one member of the class feeling so positive today as she felt more confident with her balance, and another lady was pleased to be feeling a difference in her posture after some nasty injuries.
Hilarie Stelfox from the Huddersfield Examiner came to chat to us and you can see the article here. It’s all ready just in time for Parkinson’s awareness week.
Classes run on Monday at 10.30am in Shelley Village Hall and I’m presently looking for another venue to start a class closer to Huddersfield Town Centre too so watch this space and do let me know if you are interested in either class!
